Ferries to Ryde, Isle of Wight

Ryde is the Isle of Wight’s largest town, and since it has both a ferry port and hovercraft terminal (for the last hovercraft left in Britain), it is often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Island’.

Not only does it have beautiful stretches of sandy beaches, but there are a wide range of independent shops, boutiques, and restaurants in the town which delight and surprise everyone who tries them.

Ryde offers a huge range of things to do no matter what your age or your preferences. With an ice rink and a bowling alley, the town itself is a family friendly and fun place to be, but head out a little further and you will find a funfair, Puckpool Park, Appley Tower, and Play Lane Millennium Green.

There are often events taking place in Ryde at various times of the year. In August there is the world renowned Isle of Wight Scooter Rally, and later on, in September, you can see the wonderful Classic Car Show. Ryde is also the home of one of the UK’s very oldest carnivals. Held at the end of the summer each year, this is a great way to say hello to the autumn.
