Ferries to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight has many great things going for it, and Yarmouth, one of its main towns when it comes to ferry crossings, is one of them.
This is where some of the oldest sites on the island can be found, including a wonderful castle dating back to the 16th century. It is now owned and run by English Heritage, and makes for a great day out, as does nearby Osborne House. The entire town is lovely to look at, and includes many Grade II listed buildings.

Yarmouth is where some of the Isle of Wights very earliest settlers lived, and archaeologists have found evidence that there were people in Yarmouth and the surrounding area over 1,000 years ago. It was originally called Eremue which means ‘muddy estuary’; the name Yarmouth is a much more genteel one!
Yarmouth is an excellent base for fishing trips, and boats – with or without a crew – can be hired from there. Other activities include exploring the castle, visiting the wonderful Tapnell Farm (with its playbarn, animals, café, gift shop and events), the renowned Chessell Pottery Barns, Fort Victoria Marine Aquarium, and Sunken Secrets (exhibitions about marine archaeology and shipwrecks) as well as so much more.
