Ferries to Douglas, Isle of Man

The Isle of Man is a charming place to visit, and the town of Douglas is perhaps the most charming place of all.

It is picture postcard perfect with horse drawn trams trotting down the shopping promenade, beautifully restored 19th century buildings, and plenty of independent shops and boutiques selling locally produced souvenirs and goods.

Douglas has two miles of sandy beaches and the bay is spectacular. It is ideal for a real old fashioned day out on the beach with ice creams and paddling and castles. And sometimes that is all that is needed on any holiday.

The Manx Museum is a popular spot for visitors, and that can be found in Douglas. The museum offers a glimpse into the Isle of Man’s 10,000 year history, and is full to the brim of artefacts and treasures. Other favourite attractions are the A.R.E Motorcycle Museum, the Home of Rest of Old Horses, the Gaiety Theatre, and Summerhill Glen.

Apart from the famous trams, the Isle of Man has a steam railway too, and the trains can be examined – and ridden – from Douglas around the rest of the island. It’s a lovely way to explore this wonderful island.

And of course, for motor sports enthusiasts, Douglas must be visited in May or June when the Isle of Man International TT race is run!
