Cruises to Brest, France

Brest in Brittany, France, is famous for its harbour and military port (the second largest such port in France).

During World War II the city centre was all but destroyed in air raids and was rebuilt from scratch – it is therefore an interesting place to visit to see post-war architecture and industrial design.

Brest’s maritime history is what most people are interested in, and that includes the French navy. There are even prestigious schools here that specialise in the naval sector. This includes the Ecole Navale and the Superior National School of Advanced Techniques of Brittany.

When in Brest there are many things to keep everyone occupied. Oceanopolis is a great example of an activity that is good for the whole family and that everyone will enjoy. This large aquarium details information about the sea, sea life, and much more as well as having a ‘wall of living corals’ and a large shark tank.

For those who are fascinated by maritime history and naval adventures, the National Navy Museum can be found in Brest and the history housed within it dates backed almost 2,000 years.
