Ullapool sits prettily on the shores of Lochbroom, and serves not only as the ‘gateway to the Northern Highlands’ but as a great family holiday destination in its own right.

One of the most popular places to visit when in Ullapool is the Inverpolly National Nature Reserve. Here you can see golden eagles, buzzards, pine martens, and wildcats as well as much more including the famous Stack Polly (Stac Pollaidh) which has the distinction of being the most photographed hill around Lochbroom.

Ullapool is surrounded by nature, and the Inverewe Garden which overlooks Loch Ewe is an exquisite example of just how stunning it all can be. As well as that, attractions include the Leckmelm Shrubbery and Arboretum, Lael Forest Garden, the Falls of Measach and Corrieshalloch Gorge. All wonderful, all worth a visit whilst in Ullapool.

The beaches of Ullapool are another lovely way to spend a day. Take a picnic and enjoy the serenity. Or if you prefer moving around a bit more, the walk around Lockbroom is idyllic, offering superb views of the entire area. Hill walking is also popular.
