Ferries from Tarbert, Scotland

The world famous Loch Fyne is a beautiful place, and one of its surrounding villages, Tarbert, with its sparse and rugged yet breath taking scenery is the most beautiful place of all.

Tarbert is considered to be the gateway to the Kintyre, but if visitors simply pass through on their way to the peninsula then they are missing a lot.

July is the best time to visit if you enjoy festivals, and particularly if you love seafood. The annual seafood festival brings people from near and far and it is a delight for the senses. It’s not the only big event in Tarbert, however; every May the heats for the Scottish Series yachting competition take place there too.

When visiting Tarbert it is impossible not to notice the imposing castle that sits above the town. This is the 14th century home of Robert the Bruce, and although the walk up to it is a steep one, once you are there the views are never to be forgotten. Walking in general is a great way to pass the time when in Tarbert. There are a number of routes clearly marked and the walks range from short (the shortest takes you from the town to the pretty and tiny beach) to much longer.

Tarbert has four ferry terminals, and is a central hub for many ships and ferries.
