Ferries to Coll, Scotland
The Isle of Coll lies in the Southern Hebrides, approximately 4 miles west of Mull.
It is delightfully compact, being just 13 miles long and four miles across. But those few square miles are packed with the most wonderful scenery, wildlife, and fresh air that anyone could want. The views from Coll are breath taking, and many of the other Hebridean islands can be seen from various vantage points. This is also where children’s author Mairi Hedderwick lives, and where she based her fictional Isle of Struay, which can be read about in the Katie Morag adventure stories.

The beaches on Coll are beautiful places to spend a little time. Or a lot of time. It is a relaxing, peaceful place, and the shell covered beaches add to the tranquillity.
The largest village on the island is Arinagour, and around half the people on Coll live there (that makes 100 residents in Arinagour since Coll itself only has around 200 permanent residents). From the pier it is possible to catch a ferry to Tiree and Oban.
The fresh, untroubled air is certainly one of the most popular aspects of Coll, and there is plenty visitors can do to get many lungfuls of it. Golf (there is a 9 hole golf course on Coll), surfing, swimming, pony trekking, cycling, walking and fishing are all favourites.
Wildlife on the island includes the endangered corncrake. The RSPB’s bird reserve is the best place to try to spot it, but you don’t have to hide away to see more of the natural inhabitants of the island – basking sharks, seals and dolphins are all able to be seen near the coast.
