This deal has expired but there are still great prices available.

The renowned value of a bargain price P&O Ferries Hull to Ypres mini cruise is back again,.

Under the banner 'Mini Cruises Mini Prices', P&O Ferries has lowered the starting rate of from £90 per person to from £45 per person.

While the offer is not called a two for one deal, you don't need to be a mathematician to see that this is a very similar offer. However, this year groups of three and five can take advantage of the same value that those travelling as a couple or a group of four used to enjoy.

You'll sail from Hull in the evening bound for Zeebrugge. Enjoy the great entertainment on-board your crossing and enjoy a comfortable night's sleep in an en-suite inside cabin. The following morning you'll dock in Zeebrugge and board a coach for a transfer into Ypres. You'll have up to around 7 hours of free time in Ypres (depending on the time you dock and everyone has boarded the coach).

Ypres (locally known as Leper) is often the starting base chosen by people looking to tour the Flanders Fields, a Belgian battlefield from World War One. The town's 'In Flanders Fields Museum' is worth a visit to learn more about the effect of the war on the region. There's also a Heritage Footpath that runs through the centre of the town. Ypres also has a thriving food scene. Make sure you taste some of the Belgian chocolate as you browse the many shops.

Your return sailing departs in the early evening and sails overnight back to Hull, giving you another chance to enjoy yourself on-board.

Book early to avoid disappointment.

Selected dates are available. These include:

  • Tuesday 18th February 2020
  • Monday 24th February 2020
  • Tuesday 3rd March 2020

There's also a couple of summer dates released too, but they aren't available to book (at the time of writing).

  • Thursday 18th June 2020
  • Monday 17th August 2020
This deal has expired but there are still great prices available. If you think the deal is back on again please let me know and I'll let everyone else know the good news.

The dull-but-necessary small print

All deals are subject to availability and can be withdrawn by the operator without prior notice. The lead-in prices (otherwise known as the 'from' prices) are, unless otherwise stated above, based on two adults sharing the cheapest available cabin on the cheapest available date. Typically the best prices are available at the start of any promotion period so the earlier you book the better choice of sailing dates and cabin availability you should have. Mid-week sail dates are likely to be cheaper than weekend sail dates.

      • Not on this offer as far as I can see. You could book a Bruges cruise and stay instead. Then, when you get off the coach in Bruges, head to the train station (pretty close to the drop-off point) and catch a train to Ypres. Looking at Google, you'll either need to head to Tourhout or Roeselare and catch a bus from there, or take a train to Leper, changing at Ghent. Either way, the journey is around 2 hours so you'll be there by around lunch time. Spend the afternoon and evening in Ypres, booking a hotel for the night there. Spend the morning in Ypres and head back to Bruges around midday to ensure you've got plenty of time to catch the return coach back to the port.

  1. Why are there no cruises from Aberdeen? We're very close to Norway Denmark Sweden Iceland etc. We also have an airport, bewildered as to why they all depart from hull. Is it something to do with Aberdeen harbour?

    • That would be awesome, but it's to do with supply and demand. Ships need to sail as full as possible to be economically viable. Routes from Hull, Newcastle, and Dover are especially busy. I'm not sure there's enough demand from hauliers to sail from Aberdeen to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, or Iceland right now. It's often easier and more economical for hauliers to route through Amsterdam or Calais and drive northwards. Brexit may well change that, depending on how the customs and freedom of movement rules change. Time will tell, but I for one would love to see a UK to Norway route, and the reinstatement of a UK to Denmark route.
