DFDS has reduced the price of its ORCA Newcastle to Amsterdam Mini Cruise by 30% for a limited time.
In a nutshell, it's the same experience as a regular mini cruise, with one exception. That is, experts from the ORCA wildlife charity will be on-board, helping passengers spot whales, dolphins, porpoises, and other creatures during the sailings across the North Sea.

If you're interested in wildlife, and fancy visiting Amsterdam from the port near Newcastle, this might be right up your street. It's also a great option if you have kids as there'll be some activities to keep them busy (with a spot of hidden learning too, which is a bonus).
The ORCA team is on-board the King Seaways ship between March and September, where you'll also find the ORCA Wildlife Centre, packed full of tips and information on recent sightings. If you're lucky (and patient), you might spot the common harbour porpoises as you near Ijmuiden. Out at sea, you might glimpse white beaked dolphins or bottlenose dolphins out at sea, and, if you're really lucky, perhaps even a minke whale!
Sail from North Shields near Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, early in the evening. Enjoy your evening as you wish. Perhaps you will enjoy the free live entertainment on-board, have a drink or two from the bar, or feast on a delicious meal in one of the onboard restaurants.
Enjoy a comfortable night in an en-suite cabin. Economy and Standard Inside cabins offer the best value. Sea View cabins afford a view out to sea while Premium Commodore cabins offer a view and the most space together with creature comforts such as an in-room TV and complimentary mini bar.
In the morning enjoy breakfast before you arrive at Ijmuiden port (located west of Amsterdam) if you so choose, or grab a bite to eat on land.
Once docked, disembark, and head out to your awaiting coach to Amsterdam city centre.
You will have up to five hours to do as you wish. Whether you fancy a cultural break, a relaxing break, or you want to sample Dutch food and drink, there is something for everyone.
Catch your awaiting bus back to the port in time for the return overnight sailing. Arrive back in the UK early in the morning.
The ORCA team will be out on deck on the first evening from around 5.30pm, from 7am the following morning, from around 5.30pm that evening, and once again at 7am on the last leg back into port.
Be aware that the DFDS booking system splits out the cost of the mini cruise and Dutch coach transfers into two separate prices. Their lead-in price for this offer is based on the combination of these (i.e. the total cost of the mini cruise (excluding meals), rather than just the cruise portion.
The dull-but-necessary small print
All deals are subject to availability and can be withdrawn by the operator without prior notice. The lead-in prices (otherwise known as the 'from' prices) are, unless otherwise stated above, based on two adults sharing the cheapest available cabin on the cheapest available date. Typically the best prices are available at the start of any promotion period so the earlier you book the better choice of sailing dates and cabin availability you should have. Mid-week sail dates are likely to be cheaper than weekend sail dates.
