DFDS stands for Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab which when literally translated reads as The United Steamship Company. Set up back in 1866 the company has built it's reputation on the back of passenger and freight ferry services in and around Europe. DFDS Seaways is the passenger arm of the company and devotes 100% of its care and attention on people.
DFDS Seaways operates several routes connecting the UK to Amsterdam and Denmark, as well as a service between Copenhagen and Oslo.
Fleet
The DFDS Seaways fleet is small in size meaning they can continually ensure a fast and reliable ferry service. The vessels are large in size and offer plenty of space and comfort. Vessels in operation include:
- MS Crown of Scandinavia (built 1994)
- MS Dana Sirena (built 2002)
- MS King of Scandinavia (built 1987)
- MS Pearl of Scandinavia (built 1989)
- MS Princess of Norway (built 1986)
Routes
DFDS Seaways specialise in UK to Amsterdam and UK to Denmark travel although they also offer a connecting service between Copenhagen and Oslo meaning you can explore much deeper into Europe than with other mini-cruise lines. Current routes include:
- Newcastle to Ijmuiden, Amsterdam
- Harwich to Esbjerg, Denmark
- Copenhagen to Oslo
