Cruises from Rosyth, Scotland

Rosyth might be known best for its large and well-used dockyard, but it hasn’t always been that way.

It was originally founded as a garden city in 1909, and grew to accommodate the shipping traffic that needed to use its location.

The city was built to house the dock workers as they built the area, but the dock itself soon outstripped the city in terms of growth.

Rosyth itself is a fairly small area, but it is close to Dunfermline which means that there is plenty to do there. Dunfermline Abbey is a wonderful day out, for example. Here you can immerse yourself in over 1,000 years of history and discover more about Christianity, architecture, literature and the arts than you might have realised you could.

Other days out include the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum (Andrew Carnegie was an industrialist who was instrumental in the American steel industry), the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, St Margaret’s Cave (a strange little place where it is said Queen Margaret hid in order to pray) and a number of outdoor activity centres where you can enjoy archery, golf, tree climbing, forest skills and more.
